Fry Baskets & French Fry Cone Holders
Guests often reach for the phone before the fork. A plate of fries lying flat is easy to forget. The same fries standing tall in a black wire cone, or tumbling out of a steel basket next to a dip, look like something worth a photo. The food is the same. The serving piece is what turns a side order into something people share.
Makrey has supplied serveware to Indian hotels, cafés and restaurants since 1981. This collection has 15 pieces for serving fries, wedges and fried snacks: wrought iron fry cones, stainless steel and wire fry baskets, a wooden fries cone and two fish and chips servers.
These are serving baskets for the table, not fryer baskets that go into hot oil.
French Fry Cone Holders
A french fry cone holder keeps the fries upright, so they are easy to pick up. Each WI fry cone is made in wrought iron with a black powder-coat finish.
9" Fry Cones
The 9" fry cone comes as a single cone, a double holder and a triple holder. The tall cone suits a full portion of fries, potato wedges or onion rings, and the double and triple holders let a table share two or three snacks from one stand.
6" Fry Cones
The 6" fry cone holder also comes as a single, double and triple. It suits smaller portions, kids' menus, and tasting platters of fried starters.
Line each cone with a paper liner or butter paper before serving, so the oil does not touch the metal. As a fry cone holder for restaurant tables, the triple stand also works for a trio of fried snacks, such as fries, nuggets and onion rings.
French Fry Basket Options in Steel and Wire
Stainless Steel Fry Baskets
- Square: 3" and 4", in a glossy finish.
- Round: 3" and 4", glossy.
- Round mini: 2.5", the smallest basket in the range.
- Rectangle: 4" x 3", and a larger 8.25" x 4.5" basket for a sharing portion.
A small serving fry basket is the classic basket for french fries served with a burger, and the 8.25" rectangle suits a sharing platter for the table. The 2.5" mini fry basket works for a single side, or for a tasting menu.
Wire and Wooden Fry Holders
The WI basket is 4" across in black powder-coat, for a darker, café-style look. The wooden fries cone bowl is 4.75" across and 4" high, with a slanted top, so the fries lean towards the guest. Both suit cafés, burger bars and brunch menus.
Fish and Chips Server
Each fish and chips server sets a fry basket on a wooden tray:
- SZ67: an 8.25" x 4.5" fry basket on a wooden tray, for a full portion of fish and chips.
- SZ66: a 4" square fry basket on a 14" x 6" wooden tray, with space for sauces and a side.
They also work for fried chicken, amritsari fish, chicken 65 or loaded fries. Add a sauce from our dip bowls and ramekins on the tray.
Choosing Baskets for Fries by Menu
- Burger bars and QSR: the SS square or round fry basket, as a side with every burger.
- Cafés and bars: the WI fry cone or the double and triple holders, for sharing.
- Pubs and continental menus: the fish and chips servers.
- Hotel room service and banquets: the 3" SS baskets as a french fry serving basket for hotel menus, where portions are small and plates are full.
Baskets for fries also suit Indian fried snacks, such as pakoras, samosas and masala fries. For live counters, see our snack warmers, which include an acrylic cone stand, and for tacos, our taco holders.
Caring for Fry Baskets and Cones
Wash SS baskets with warm water and mild soap after every service, as oil left overnight is harder to remove. Wipe WI cones with a damp cloth and dry them straight away, to protect the powder-coat. Wipe the wooden cone and the wooden trays, and do not soak them.
