Copper Tiffin Serving Sets
A tiffin is a meal you open one level at a time. Lift the top tier and there is the dal. Lift the next and there is the sabzi, then the rice, then something sweet at the bottom. That slow unstacking at the table turns a simple combo meal into a small event, and a copper tiffin makes it look like a family treasure rather than a lunch box.
Makrey has supplied serveware to Indian hotels and restaurants since 1981. This collection has three copper tiffins in a glossy finish: a 6" 3 compartment tiffin and two 4 compartment tiffins in 8.5" and 11.5", for restaurant combo meals, thali-style service and room service.
Copper Tiffin Range
3 Compartment Tiffin (6")
The 6" copper tiffin has three compartments of 250ml each. It suits a single portion of dal, sabzi and rice, or a starter, main and dessert, for one guest.
4 Compartment Tiffin (8.5")
The 8.5" copper tiffin has four compartments of 250ml each. The fourth tier adds room for raita, a sweet or a second sabzi, so it works as a full meal for one guest.
4 Compartment Tiffin (11.5")
The 11.5" copper tiffin has four larger compartments of 450ml each, for a sharing meal for two, a family combo or a generous single meal with rice and curry.
Copper Tiffin for Restaurant Combo Meals
A copper tiffin for restaurant service is a simple way to present a fixed combo meal. Each tier holds one dish, so the kitchen packs the meal in one go and the server carries it to the table as one piece. As a combo meal serving tiffin, it suits:
- Lunch combos: dal, sabzi, rice and a sweet in the 4 compartment tiffin.
- Mini meals: a starter, a main and a dessert in the 3 compartment tiffin.
- Sharing meals: a curry, a dal, rice and breads for two in the 11.5" tiffin.
- Room service: a home-style meal for a hotel guest, delivered in one piece.
- Theme restaurants: a dabba-style lunch on a Mumbai or railway-themed menu.
Open the tiers at the table and set them out in a row, so the guest sees every dish. For a full plated thali, see our copper and brass thali sets, and for single dishes in copper, our copper handis and portion dishes.
Tiffin Serving Set: Choosing the Right Size
- One guest, light meal: the 6" 3 compartment tiffin (3 x 250ml).
- One guest, full meal: the 8.5" 4 compartment tiffin (4 x 250ml).
- Two guests or a large meal: the 11.5" 4 compartment tiffin (4 x 450ml).
A tiffin set in one size across the menu keeps service simple. For a menu with both single and sharing combos, pair the 8.5" and 11.5" sizes. For quirky street-style serving pieces on the same menu, see our quirky serveware, and for pickle and chutney on the side, our pickle sets.
Caring for a Copper Tiffin Box
Wash each tier by hand with mild soap soon after service, as turmeric, tamarind and oily curries can mark copper if they sit for long. Dry each tier straight away to avoid water spots, and polish the outside with a copper cleaner when the shine fades. Store the tiers stacked with a soft cloth between them to protect the finish. For details of the inner surface of each copper tiffin box, ask our team before you order.
